prim and proper

our grandma has always trained us to dress up for church and on sundays. i remember her standing by the door in our house in the province, waiting to see what we’re wearing. it has to be appropriate — like, it has to have sleeves and the length of the skirt has to be knee-length. it’s not that she was strict about clothes in general — i mean, our mom used to have mini-mod dresses in the 60’s and 70’s and that got my dad hooked..LOL. but sundays were always an exception. so even when we got back to the city, i remember me and my sisters taking our time preparing for church because we always had to look appropriate and presentable. sundays, as a kid, was always a dress-up day. and my favorite was my peach chiffon dress with a matching brim hat.
this was taken last sunday after church and on the way to get a massage at one of our favorite spas here — nuat thai at mabolo. not only is their services good, they have really good interiors too and very affordable — a body massage is at P150 – P250 ($3.00 – $5.00). please don’t mind my disheveled look. it is indeed obvious that i need to relax and unwind. i can assure you i was deeply relaxed after the 45 minute foot massage and 1 hour swedish body massage…felt so good!

let go of high school already!

one supervisor for 40 agents is just plain crazy.
i feel like this has been the longest 2 days of my life.
i wish that people in their 20’s would already let go of high school. stop with the gossiping, stop with the talking behind people’s backs and most of all, stop with the bullying. snide remarks, raising of the eyebrows and rolling of the eyes is all too pubescent and it’s stupid. i am here to manage professionals and not be a high school guidance counselor. just start doing your jobs. the last i heard, people who constantly look at other people’s work and not their own can never be successful.
there. i’m sorry. just had to rant (yet again). thanks for letting me. now i can move on to my weekend.
i have great things to look forward to this weekend. dinner with old co-workers for the promotion of a former manager. my 1st monthsary with harry — by the time we roll over a year, we start counting back to 1 month (just to spice things up and feel like a couple in their honeymoon stage again…LOL). a night of blogging and catching up on your blogs (yes, YOU!) and thrifting with my mom and sister on monday morning. (yey!)
hope everyone has a great weekend!
thanks for the lovely comments on my previous post.
i’m seeing that i already have 91 followers since i turned this personal blog into
a fashion & lifestyle blog last november 2009.
with that, i might (99.99% chance) do a 100th follower give-away!
clue: it’s going to be a few of my favorite things. *wink*

trademark polka

this is what i wore for valentine’s day. i know, i know, it’s a very late post but it’s perfect because pipi of black hair do did this illustration of me and my ‘trademark’ polka! thank you so much! i love it!

anyway, i’ve only got 30 minutes to spend on blogging today as i have to pack for yet another weekend at the beach! this time, i’d be with my co-workers whom i don’t know very well — but am obliged to go because if i don’t come, i’d have to work on a saturday! waaaahhhh! i’d rather spend it on the beach than be in my cubicle. i’ve got my escape plans covered anyway. what do i mean by ‘escape plans?’ welp, i usually have this tendency to take myself apart from the crowd by plugging in my headphones, immersing myself in my music and just staring at the sea (or at the crowd or in space…LOL). you could say, i sometimes love my own world and am perfectly fine with being in it even in the middle of a crowd.
ps. i will make sure to check out all your blogs and comment back when i get back on monday! for now, happy weekend everyone!

overwhelmed

phew! my weekend was action packed! i didn’t get to laze around just like what jen likes of her sundays.
so…here’s my new hair. sported these many layers about 2 years ago and i just couldn’t replicate them not even when i went to the same hair dresser who did it in the first place. it’s frustrating having curly hair sometimes. hair salons are just afraid to mess with them and they immediately suggest getting it straight which i hate because i love my hair. and believe me, i’ve tried having straight hair for a day, it bored me to death. i don’t stand out at all.  as it turns out, our manicurist studied hair styling a few years back when she used to work at a salon and when i asked her to cut my hair, she happily obliged. she comes to our house every two weeks to get our nails done and when she did my hair, she was using kitchen scissors…haha!

aside from my new hair, i am very much overwhelmed by the number of visits i got over the weekend and the humongous amount of comments too! thank you so much from the bottom of my heart… all your comments really made me smile. it totally made up for all the frustrations at work. *sigh*

what i did over the weekend: cooked harry dinner at his place | read ‘lion among men’ | did listen to ‘the honorary title’ | watched legion | attended mass | had dinner with friends | went to the wake of a friend’s father | had dessert at dong juan | and wished i had a massage..haha!

hello sunshine!

this is the only time i love the sun — when i’m at the beach. went with old co-workers and harry to a local beach resort last sunday to just unwind and hang out. there were good laughs and good food.
(i had this whole write-up prepared but my mood today just isn’t letting me want to talk too much)
just wanted to show you guys this skirt that we thrifted years back. it’s an original united colors of benetton vintage which still has a “made in italy” tag. most clothes (or stuff even) today are mostly made in china. not that i’m hating it…hehe. i wore this once to a company party 3 years ago and was awarded one of the best dressed for the night. wore the skirt as a dress and belted it. (don’t be shocked with how dark i am… i was still playing flag football then…haha!) damn, i miss my collarbones…and by arms… fast forward to 2010 and look what losing exercise can do to you…
