i know i’ve neglected this blog for more than a week now. hey, it’s not my fault. although work got to best of me last week and i ended up working 12 – 14 hours a day, i did intend to blog last weekend. i caught the flu though and was on bed rest til’ today. i got to stay at home on a Monday but it wasn’t fun and games at all. my head seemed like it was going to split and it was throbbing with pain every time i move. i’m all well now after religiously taking pain medication and antibiotics. 
anyway, these photos were taken 2 weekends ago after the ‘meet the parents’ lunch we had at our place. yes, Harry has met my parents and i have met his but this time, both our parents were meeting for the first time. it was tense, awkward and funny the first few minutes but once everyone got to talking, we hardly noticed that almost 3 hours has gone by. ♥ parents who get along well together is just the bestest thing to happen to a wedding-in-the-making! ♥

Bloggers United 2 x Free Tickets to Giveaway!


Manila’s finest fashion bloggers will leave their laptops at home once again to attend BLOGGERS UNITED BAZAAR (Part 2) on December 3, 2011 at Treston International College, Taguig, this coming holiday season.
It is the second installment of the first-ever Bloggers United: An Interactive Shopping Affair, which was held last May. Due to insistent demand from readers and bloggers alike, Bloggers United(http://www.facebook.com/bloggersunitedph) team in partnership with the country’s largest online shopping website, Multiply Philippines (http://multiply.com/) have gathered Manila’s fashion bloggers to sell their pre-loved but very stylish closet pieces!
This event is the perfect opportunity for both bloggers and their adoring readers to mingle and personally interact with each other. Fun contests and exciting giveaways from sponsors and entertaining performances from bloggers (Walkie Talkies, Reese & Vica) themselves will definitely keep this event from being a dull one.
Some of the notable bloggers attending the event include Divine Lee, Laureen Uy, Kookie Buhain, Lissa Kahayaon, David Guison, Karl Leuterio, Patricia Prieto and Preview Magazine’s own Daryl and Andre Chang.

before the last heave of the loot i found in bangkok and yes, before the giveaway, a few items for sale:
  • an over-sized bag (just the way i like) made with faux black leather. the insides is lined with black faux leather too so it is very durable. it can carry anything and you can even use it as an overnight bag.
  • a couple of printed shirts with cool animal patches. i found this right on the last shopping day. i bought 3 and had to share the other 2 even when i wanted to keep them all. this is perfect for the casual laid-back days that we all have. (admit it, you do have a shirt + shorts + flats day)

off to the next adventure!

these photos are in continuation with my weekend at my most favorite beach house in Daanbantayan. i think we might have abused the use of this beach house and i’m really thankful for my dad’s friends who have allowed us to use this place whenever available. this is the first time i’ve spent my birthday here and being at such a pivotal point in my life — turning 26, just having resigned and soon to be taking on a new career, it’s only fitting that i be in a place where i can think and just take in the silence because in the next week, i will be diving into a whole different world. more details about my new career next week.  all i can say is that it will involve meeting a lot of new people.
on to what i wore here: i’ve always loved 80’s fashion and i think i can say that the cut-off shoulders are definitely 80’s. i’ve had this for years and have only worn this twice. i usually let go of clothes i have seldom used but i just love the pattern and color of this top. this is of coursed paired with my undying denim shorts and my favorite beach hat.

1) How did Cryst Jewelries start?
In 2001, my mom and I had a small jewelry business, in that business, she taught me some basic techniques on bead stringing and wire working. That was the first time when I had a relationship with beading. The business lasted for almost a year.
Then, several years after when I got married, me and my husband temporarily moved to the US since his work was based there, because my visa does not allow me to work in the US, I always stayed at home and had a lot of free time, so I have a lot of time to think, and by that time I always felt that I should be doing something in terms of jewelry design and making. Then one day while we were in a book store, I found some books detailing bead weaving techniques, and while browsing through the pages, I became excited in learning these beading weaving techniques that I’ve never seen before. And from that point on, I knew that I found the best form of expression and creativity for myself.
2) What is your design aesthetic?
I mainly focus on designing and creating elegant jewelries with emphasis on detail and color combination. My design inspirations come from the beauty of nature, the beads themselves,
and the places I had visited.
3) Currently, what is your personal favorite in your collection?
My favorite is my “Abstract on Beach” piece (http://crystjewelries.multiply.com/photos/album/2/Fit_For_A_Queen#photo=9) because it personally reminds me of the place where I said “Yes” to my suitor (to become my boyfriend)… which several years later became husband. And thus, I created a piece inspired by the ocean.
